Falcons,

 

I'm writing this on a sunny Virginia Beach Thursday. I am proud to say that we will be playing in the Ed and Sandy Lee cup tournament on November 6th and 7th in Richmond Virginia.

 

Another thing of which I am certain: Our Virginia Beach Old Boys, and fans are quite proud of us! We have lived up to our commitment this fall and come out with some good wins. We've seen a lot of bright spots and good skill that we need to capitalize on!

 

There is a great challenge in front of our coaching staff and me. It's a challenge we're lucky to have, and one, which many teams don't have the luxury of in 2004. That is the selection of starting players. It is often very hard to determine who will be starting from game to game because of the depth at positions, and the amount of effort everyone has shown. I see a team of 25 starters in a 15-man game! That is a tremendous thing for us, seeing how we were struggling a few months ago. This will pay off for us greatly in the seasons to come! So keep recruiting!!

 

Who could ever have expected the Falcons to be the power they have become? In Virginia they have become a team known for a tough battle on the pitch. Leaving the mighty Blues wondering just what the heck is going on at the beach.

 

Teams that play, learn, and improve throughout the tournament win trophies. Our pre-tournament fixtures are ideal; our group is just tough enough. James River, Norfolk, Raleigh, and Charlotte will all test us in different areas so by quarterfinal's time we should have combinations worked out and real momentum.

 

I remain optimistic that innovation, aggressive defense, pace, and superior coaching will deliver the Ed Lee Cup to Virginia Beach. We have fantastic talent as we have seen throughout the Season. Roger and my job will be to get our Falcons to fly in formation to victory. At last!
