Home of the Falcons
As if you have not heard by now, its time to make your reservations for this year's First Annual Holiday Bash. Here are the details:
We will be celebrating on Sunday December 12th, from 6-10pm at Harbor Park. There will be food, beer and awards included, as well as the reminiscence of all those memorable (and very forgettable) moments from our inaugural season.
Tickets are $25.00 per person, or two for $40.00 if you are bringing your
partner*. Please make an attempt to appear presentable (I know this is
difficult for the vast majority of you). Presentable should include at
least a collared shirt, and slacks (Kilts are acceptable, but leave your
lavalavas at home.) – you may dress more formal if you wish. Purchase you
tickets ASAP to avoid disappointment.
* Proof of partnership may have to be established by the act of "tongues and all" kissing,
so don't think of purchasing a second ticket with another rugby player
just to get a discount!! We reserve the right to make you do lewd stuff
to purchase that second ticket.
We hope to make this bash as monumental and special as our fine season deserves, so please make sure you have this date noted in your calendar, and get your ticket(s) from one of our executive officers at your first opportunity. Tickets should be available by our practice on Tuesday November 16th.
ALSO – We still need to see you all out at practice, as we do have a game
planned at Quantico on Saturday November 20th. This will be good experience
for us, so we still expect all players to try and make it out to this fixture.
I recieved the following email from Coach Szuch Tuesday November 9, 2004 - it did not need any editing:
Todd,
After a strong showing we finished 6th at the Ed Lee tourney. We beat a combined team of Newport News and Virginia Gentlemen by a score of 22-15 and we lost to two div-2 teams Raleigh who we played very well against, and Richmond who we just looked awful against. I do believe we could have beaten Richmond if it weren't for the heavy partying on Saturday night. Considering it was the first rugby tournament for 75-80% of our guys, I do consider it very successful. I wish you could have seen their emotions after the News/Gentlemen victory! They were ecstatic! On the downside we did have a pretty bad injury to one of our boys. Young Matt Gibb(15) suffered a broken tibia three quarters of the way through that game. I do think it motivated our team to get a victory for him! As he was being rolled off the field to the ambulance several of the guys told him this on was for him! He was later seen relaxing at the after party with several young ladies, followed by our team signing
his cast. I do believe they pretty much filled up all the open space on
the thing! A few of our newer ruggers also got some quality playing time
with Blacksburg, C.J., Tim, and Mark all got to run a game and a half with
them. Quality time on the pitch which will greatly help them individually
and us team wise for the upcoming games. You can never have to much playing
time, and I like to see guys that like to play rugby when the have the
opportunity too! Blacksburg also gave us a great big Thanks for sending
a few quality gents to help them on the pitch! We also came away with an
award from the VRU, Virginia Beach Falcons are the proud recipient of the
Virginia Sportsman's Award. Which is a credit toward next seasons officiating.
So, that will save us a little money. Just a heads up, and maybe a little
blurb. We will be traveling to Quantico on Nov 20th to play the Quantico
rugby club in a nice friendly match! You know we'll be looking forward
to a win in this one since they beat us on our pitch last spring!
If you could kind of organize all this mumbo-jumbo into something that
looks half way decent, and post it to our site I think we would all appreciate
it. I'm pretty busy right now or I would have taken a little more time
to write up something worth printing. I just wanted to give you a heads
up, on what happened over the weekend.
Cheers!
Szuch
